Devlin is originally from Mobile, Alabama now residing in Daphne, AL on Mobile Bay. He aspired to become an artist from the age of 5 and was self-taught from an early age. He attended the University of South Alabama and the Atlanta College of Fine Arts to pursue formal training. He began his professional career as a production artist painting photography backgrounds with Denny Manufacturing Company in 1999, opening Devlin Wilson Fine Arts Studio with his wife, Kim, in 2002. He has been heavily involved in the gulf coast Art Scene since 2003 and has co-owned and operated several galleries in the downtown Mobile, AL area including Entre Arts, Portal Studio and Innova Arts. In addition to his studio work, He has created many beautiful murals prominent in the Mobile, AL area. He has participated in several Mobile community beautification projects/charity events including but not limited to painting 3 oysters for the Mobile Oyster Trail sponsored by Auburn University, several projects with Boys and Girls club of Alabama, including a large outdoor mural at Semmes Elementary. He has participated in 3 and won 2 of the Mobile Arts Council Throw-down competitions to benefit Mobile Arts Council. He participates in the Downtown Cajun cook-off annually benefiting Child Advocacy Center, creating trophies, painting on site and donating the paintings for auction. He was the featured artist in the 2022 Festival of Flowers benefitting Providence Hospital and has donated a myriad of paintings to other charitable organizations. Devlin has been recognized as Best Local Artist in Lagniappe Local publication’s Nappie awards 5 times, has been nominated as best local artist in the 2017 Artie’s sponsored by Mobile Arts Council and was a featured artist in mobile bay monthly magazine.
His favorite medium is acrylic on canvas but also renders murals on a variety of surfaces with paints with oils. His work is heavily influenced by Mobile Bay and the Gulf Coast, his inspiration is derived from sailing, fishing, boating, marine life, the variety of birds and the flora/fauna that can be seen around coastal areas. His influences include James: Michaelopolous of New Orleans, John Singer Sargent and Norman Rockwell to name a few.
Devlin has many avid collectors, and his work has been displayed at The Mobile Mardi Gras Museum, Mobile Museum of art and Mobile municipal Government Plaza.
