Julie Quick is a pastel artist from Lexington, Kentucky. She has a studio in downtown Lexington at Artsplace. Julie paints landscapes, florals and the equestrian life in the heart of the beautiful Bluegrass, where thoroughbred horses are born, trained, and compete on the track.
Her inspiration comes from her experiences of daily life in Kentucky and through her travels. The natural landscape and equestrian way of life are some of her favorite subjects to capture with impressionist and colorful marks. “I’m drawn to the landscape through its contrasting motion of sky against the stability of land; I see the relationship between horse and rider in a similar way through movement and response.” Julie strives to create paintings that are lively and characteristic of the mood or natural beauty of her context.
