Born and raised in Salem, Oregon, I have always had an interest in art and how I could portray my surroundings onto paper, taking special interest in people, muscle cars, and historic architecture using pen, ink, and watercolors. I moved to Portland in 1976 after a 4-year enlistment in the Navy to pursue an art career; however, I ended up landscaping for 30 years. After retiring in 2014, I was finally able to pursue art more seriously. Since then, I've had the opportunity to volunteer in art classes at elementary and middle schools, sell at farmers and artist markets, and be a part of various galleries and shows around the city.
The majority of my work is made using acrylics and/or oil pastels. This is best shown in paintings done en plein air, while other acrylic work takes place in my basement studio. My art portrays my interests and colorful style in architecture, landscapes, animals, cars, and cityscapes.
