Born and raised in Salem, Oregon, my interest in art started developing at the age of 7. As I moved through school, a greater focus in people, muscle cars, and historic architecture evolved, and I practiced portraying these subjects in pen and ink, and watercolor.
In 1976, upon the completion of a four-year Naval enlistment, I decided to move to Portland, Oregon, to begin pursuing a career in art more seriously; however, I accidentally ended up landscaping for the next 30 years. After retiring from this temporary career in 2014, I was finally able to direct my attention back to art. Since then, I've had the opportunity to volunteer in art classes at elementary and middle schools, sell my work at farmers markets and artist markets, and participate in various galleries and shows around the state.
My primary media are acrylic and oil pastel, with the latter best seen in my plein air paintings, while my acrylic work typically takes place in my basement studio. My art reflects my interests and colorful style through architecture, landscapes, animals, cars, and cityscapes.
